Koh
Chang Thailand is a Leisure Island least known to foreigners,
the largest among the 52 islands of Trat, is also the nations second largest
island, after Phuket. Koh Chang (Ko
Chang) has always been a favorite get-away for Thai people. Its hinterland
consists of over 70% virgin rainforest and is the best preserved but little
known tourist destination in Thailand. Situated to the east of the country in
the province of Trat on the Cambodian border, its Thailands second largest
island after Phuket.
Koh Chang offers activities for
beach lovers and mountain trekkers alike. Its pristine white sand beaches are
perfect for swimming, sun-bathing, or snorkeling in clear blue waters. Watching
the beautiful sunsets after a day filled with satisfying activities remains one
of the favourite pastimes. Land activities, from elephant trekking to hiking
through the mountains and rainforest with several waterfalls, form a great
complement to the beach
Beaches
Klong Prao Beach - Starts where the gently
curving Laem Chaichet ends. Coconut trees line the beach, and the northern end
has a beautiful rocky landscape.
White Sand Beach - The most popular and most
visited beach of Koh Chang.
Kai Bae Beach - The last major beach on the
west coast, and another great location on the west coast to watch the
spectacular sunset.
Klong Son Bay - is the first beach that
greets you after disembarking at the ferry pier.
Bang Bao Beach - On the southwestern tip is
in a fishing community where residents still live in houses built on stilts and
are connected by wooden bridges. It is a well-protected bay with a small and
quiet beach.
